Scrap Trader Kidnapped, Captors Ask for Rs 20 Million

KARACHI:
A 70‑year‑old scrap dealer, Moeenuddin of Landhi, has been abducted, with his kidnappers demanding a ransom comprising ₹20 million, two Rado watches, and two iPhones—within the next 48 hours.
On June 21, Moeenuddin boarded a train at Landhi Railway Station, where his younger son Zeeshan had dropped him off around 6:10 am; he intended to travel to Sadiqabad to buy scrap. When he failed to return the following morning, his other son, Ghayasuddin, tried calling his father on both of his numbers but found them switched off. Growing increasingly worried, the family continued attempting to reach him, but to no avail.
Then, on June 23 at 1:45pm, both brothers received a message from their father which stated that he had been kidnapped and was being held at an unknown location.
The abductors threatened to kill Moeenuddin if their demands were not met. Shortly after, the brothers received a video showing their father stripped naked and being physically abused. A case was registered against unknown men, at Quaidabad police station.
